Course Description
This is a beginning guitar course geared towards the complete beginner. No prior musical experience is necessary.
Course Required Items - ALL STUDENTS will need:
a book Alfred's Basic Adult All-in-One Piano Course - Level 1 ($16), and an
1/8 inch to 1/4 inch headphone converter($2). Be prepared to purchase these things as they are all required in order to pass the course. (Lock is not necessarily required unless you are planning to use a locker).
Course Objectives - By the end of the course, students will:
-Be able to read and write music/tablature in first position.
-Be able to identify and perform 15+ guitar chords.
-Perform full songs from Classical, Blues, Rock, Holiday genres in solo, duo, and group settings.
-Gain a greater appreciation of the performance and history of music and guitar!
Grading Procedures and Expectations
The following grading scale will be used to evaluate a students’ performance:
100-90 = A | 89-80 = B | 79-75 = C | 74-70 = D | 69 or below = F
A Student’s final grade is calculated as follows:
1. Daily Materials
25%
2. Daily Practice
25%
3. Homework
25%
4. Tests - playing on instrument, written
